On May 11th, 2018, in the evening hours, a citizen attended the Owen Sound Police Station to report concerns for two kittens who were being cared for by an Owen Sound woman. The citizen was able to provide the location of the kittens to Police, who attended the downtown residence.

When Police spoke to the accused, she provided full disclosure of the gruesome incident, detailing how she intentionally killed 2 - three month old kittens, before throwing them away in a public garbage can.

The 53 year old woman was subsequently arrested and a small dog that was still in her care was seized and turned over to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter for its own safety. The accused woman was later released from Police custody on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking with conditions not to own, possess or be in the company of any animal. The accused has been charged with two counts of Killing an Animal and 1 count of Failing to Comply with Probation.
She is to appear in court on June 21st, 2018.
