(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Central Region Traffic Management Unit of the Highway Safety Division arrested and charged three impaired drivers on May 15, 2018.
The first driver was arrested, at approximately 3:30 pm, following an investigation that was initiated at a R.I.D.E spot check on Highway 7 at Frank Hill Road. The driver, 35 year old Samuel MILNE of Peterborough was charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 28, 2018.
The second driver was arrested following an investigation for a fail to remain motor vehicle collision. The crash occurred on Colborne Street in Fenelon Falls at approximately 8:20pm. William GREER, 59 years of age of Fenelon Falls was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(a) CCC
Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(b) CCC
Fail to Remain contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Driver Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to section 33(1) HTA
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 5, 2018.
The third driver was arrested following an investigation initiated at approximately 11:30 pm on Hayes Line. Jeffrey STEWART, 49 years of age of Cavan was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(a) CCC
Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(b) CCC
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 28, 2018.
