(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 316 incidents this past week, here are some examples:



May 14:

A newer silver Ford XTR pickup truck with a black tonneau cover driven by a male was reported to have left a gas station on Queen Street in Campbellford without paying for $162 worth of fuel at 11:18 a.m.*
U-Haul truck rental reported the theft of a car dolly (serial #TD2720S, value $2,000) sometime over the past two weeks from their lot on Grand Road in Campbellford.*
A 23 year old Trenton area woman was arrested for her own safety after being found lying in some bushes on Oliphant Street in Brighton. She was charged with Being intoxicated in a public place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act and held until sober.


May 15:

An officer and a mental health worker collaborating together as a part of the M-Heart program (Mental Health Engagement and Response Team) conducted a home visit to a resident living in Colborne. The senior, who lives alone, was found to be in medical distress. EMS was summoned resulting in the senior being transported to a hospital for treatment.
A Hamilton Township resident reported his Ontario licence plate # ATXP504 lost or stolen after receiving a 407 ETR toll charge that he didn't incur.


May 16:

A Hamilton Township resident reported sending an explicit video over Facebook to a person purporting themselves to be a 29 year old female. Shortly afterwards, the recipient contacted the man and threatened to post the video unless he paid a sum of money. The Northumberland Crime Unit is investigating the incident and would like to remind the public not to send intimate video's or pictures over the internet to people you don't know or you risk becoming a victim of extortion.*
Police responded to a disturbance at a Hamilton Township motel resulting in a 29 year old Cobourg woman being arrested and charged with two counts of Mischief, Assault, Utter Death Threats and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. She was released and faces an impending court date. Name withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
A resident on Victoria Street in Hastings reported his home being 'egged' last week. Investigation ongoing.*


May 17:

Shortly after 5:00 a.m. a business on the edge of Campbellford reported 15-20 cattle blocking the front entrance. Officers made arrangements for them to be corralled and returned to the owner.
A car owner reported his 1987 Ford Mustang damaged possibly by another vehicle while parked overnight in a private driveway on Massey Road in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. Investigation ongoing.*
A landlord in the Hasting area frustrated by a tenant leaving dog excrement in a pail on the front porch reportedly picked it up and threw it inside the front door of the rental unit. Police attended resulting in advice being given to all persons involved in the dispute and a caution being issued to the landlord. No charges resulted.


Northumberland OPP officers investigated four accidental 911 calls, fifteen motor vehicle collisions, 45 traffic related complaints and conducted fourteen RIDE programs during this time period.
