2018 Air Show And Road Closures

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) - The Elgin County OPP would like to remind the public of upcoming road closures in the area of the St. Thomas Municipal Airport during the 2018 Great Lakes International Air Show. The air show is scheduled to run from June 16 to 17, 2018.
Road closures are necessary to ensure public safety during this event. Below are the dates and times of the roadways that will be affected.
Friday June 15, 2018: Quaker Road will be closed between Talbot Line and Elm Line in Central Elgin. This will occur between the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate air craft practice runs. Yarmouth Centre Road will remain open to the motoring public.
On Saturday June 16 and Sunday June 17, 2018: Quaker Road will be closed between Talbot Line and Elm Line in Central Elgin. This will occur between the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate air craft travel during the show.
Yarmouth Centre Road will be closed between Talbot Line and Elm Line in Central Elgin. This will occur between the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate air craft travel during the show.
No stopping orders will be in place for Elm Line and Talbot Line (Highway 3) between Quaker Road and Yarmouth Center Road during the air show. This includes signs already posted. This will take effect starting the 15 of June, 2018 and ending the 17 of June, 2018.
Individuals choosing not to follow the "no stopping signs" or other posted signage can face a fine of up to $110.
The public can expect to see an increase in police presence during the event to ensure the orderly flow of traffic.
