(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P) dealt with 123 incidents this past weekend, here are some examples:

June 9

A female from the Hamilton Township area called police to report that her mailbox was stolen off the post it was attached to. Investigation ongoing*


A motor vehicle was stopped at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check in the Alnwick -Haldimand Township area. As a result a 17 year old male youth from Quinte West was charged with being a novice driver with blood alcohol content above zero and driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.


A Cramahe Township residence reported that she had been defrauded of money from her banking account. The victim provided her personal information to what she thought was a legitimate phone company she has an account with wanting to reimburse her funds. Investigation ongoing*


June 10

Police recovered a vehicle at an address on County road 22 in the Alnwick -Haldimand Township area that was reported stolen to the Durham Regional Police Service earlier in the day. The vehicle was found completely destroyed by fire. Investigation ongoing*


A Trent Hills resident reported that her home on 12th Line West located just north of Campbellford ON. had been entered sometime between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. the previous day on June 9, 2018. The suspects entered the home which was unlocked at the time and stole a quantity of jewellery, several fishing rods, reels, fishing lures and tackle bags. Also reported stolen was a laptop, and a brand new Cannon camera. Police had no suspects at the time of this report but the investigation is ongoing*


Police responded to a verbal domestic in Hamilton Township. Both parties were spoken to then separated for the remainder of the night


A motorist in the Municipality of Brighton was seeking police assistance to help remove baby racoons from underneath their car. The motorist stopped to allow the animals to cross the road but several ended up under the wheel wells. The racoons were removed without incident.


Northumberland OPP officers also investigated 6 accidental 9-1-1 calls, 7 motor vehicle collisions, 24 traffic related complaints and conducted 11 RIDE programs over the weekend.
