(SEGUIN TOWNSHIP, ON) - On July 5, 2018 at shortly after midnight members of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single boat collision on Lake Joseph in Seguin Township, Ontario.

Investigation determined that a boat had failed to maintain its intended course and hit a low rock shoal, which emerged from the water. Two of the six occupants were thrown from the boat and received minor non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation Sarah WHITTAKER, a 19 year old female from East York, Ontario was charged with Operate vessel in a careless manner, contrary to section 2001-SVR1007 of the Canada Shipping Act.

The OPP reminds boaters if you are within 30 metres from shore you must be travelling less than 10 kilometres per hour unless you are towing water skiers.
