Toddler Drowning In Grand Bend Update - Name Of Deceased Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers including members from the Huron OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate a drowning that occurred this past weekend north of Grand Bend.

Just after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 Huron County OPP & Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the Port Blake Conservation Area located off of Bluewater Veteran's Highway after learning an unresponsive toddler had been pulled out of Lake Huron.

Despite the lifesaving measures that were provided, the young girl died in hospital on Monday, July 9, 2018.

The deceased has been identified as two-and-a-half-year-old Ayat ALKUBET from London, Ontario.

Foul play is not suspected.
