Human Remains Found In Burning Vehcile

(CALEDON, ON) Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Caledon OPP Crime Unit are investigating a vehicle fire which took place overnight in the Town of Caledon.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. on August 5, 2018, Caledon Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire on McLaughlin Road North near Mayfield Road in the Town of Caledon. Fire crews extinguished the vehicle fire and human remains were discovered inside the vehicle.

The investigation into this incident is being conducted by members of the Caledon and Central Region Crime Unit, and OPP Forensic Identification Services under the direction of Detective Inspector Martin Graham of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

While the investigation is ongoing, McLaughlin Road North remains closed between Mayfield Road and Old School Road. Further details will be released as they become available and when the road re-opens to area traffic.
