Man Charged For Having Small Amount Of Weed

(AWERES TOWNSHIP, ON) - On September 16, 2018 at approximately 11:05 p.m. members from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17, Aweres Township.

Officers located the vehicle and as a result of further investigation, Darren BLAIS 35 years-old of Aweres Township, Ontario was charged with the following:

Possession of a Schedule II substance - Cannabis Marihuana - under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs Substance Act (CDSA),
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA),
Use plate not authorized for vehicle contrary to section 12(1) (d) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 29, 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
