(CENTRAL HURON, ON) - A 26-year-old from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 following a traffic stop that took place in Londesboro this past weekend.
Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a possible impaired driver travelling toward Londesboro. At approximately 1:14 a.m. police observed the driver of the suspect vehicle operating in an erratic manner on Main Street in Londesboro. Prior to initiating a traffic stop the driver pulled into a laneway on Main Street and came to a stop.
Moments later the driver exited his vehicle and was greeted by the officer. Upon speaking with the male driver it was evident the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
Jordan BAKELAAR, 26 years of age, from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for October 15, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle was impounded for a week and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
