Failing To Stop For RIDE Check Results In Charges

(GUELPH-ERAMOA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On Friday November 9, 2018 at approximately 9:40 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 39 just south of Wellington Road 30 when a northbound pick-up truck failed to stop when directed to. Officers followed the truck and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device Test (ASD) was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

While conducting a search incident to arrest, officers located an open can of beer in the vehicle and marihuana in his coat pocket.

30-year-old Corey SCHLUETER-ROES of Kitchener has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, Adult Drive Vehicle With Cannabis Readily Available contrary to the Cannabis Act 2017 and Drive Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 30, 2018.
