69 Year Old Has Vehicle Impounded For Going 60+ Over Limit

(BLUEWATER, ON) - A 69-year-old driver from London will be returning to court in Huron County this March following a Racing charge that was laid by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week.
On February 11, 2019 at approximately 4:50 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was conducting stationary RADAR observations of Airport Line in Bluewater when a compact vehicle was observed travelling northbound at very high rate of speed. The officer activated his RADAR device and the vehicle's speed was measured at a rate of speed in excess of 60 km/h over the 80 km/h posted speed limit.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged. Marion AKINS, 69 years of age from London has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. He will have to attend Provincial Offences Court in Goderich on March 19, 2019 to answer to the charge. His driver's licence was automatically suspended for seven days and his vehicle was also impounded for a week.
