Driver Facing Impaired By Drug Charge

A 27 Year old male from Meaford is facing charges of driving while impaired by a drug after being investigated during a R.I.D.E. lane Thursday evening in Owen Sound. Owen Sound Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. lane on 14 th Street West around 9:00 p.m. last evening when the driver of a 2018 Toyota truck was suspected of being impaired by a drug. The officer conducted a roadside sobriety test and formed the grounds to arrest the driver for operating a vehicle while impaired by a drug. An Owen Sound Police Drug Recognition Expert conducted further tests and concluded the driver was impaired by the consumption of a drug. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence was suspended for 90 days under provincial legislation. He will appear in court on February 21 st to answer to the charge.
