(MONKTON, ON) - Shortly after 7:30 a.m. on April 26, 2019, a member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North Perth detachment observed a motor vehicle travelling on Perth Road 164, north of Monkton in the Municipality of North Perth. The vehicle was determined to be travelling at a rate of speed in excess of the posted speed limit and was stopped by police.

A 17-year-old male from the Municipality of North Perth was charged with racing. His driver's licence was seized and a driving suspension was imposed. The vehicle was towed and impounded, and he is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on June 11, 2019 to answer the charges.

The OPP wants to remind driver's that speeding reduces the amount of available time needed to avoid a collision and increases the severity of a collision once it does occur.

If you observe concerning driving behaviour, pull over and call police at 1-888-310-1122. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
