(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - On June 22, 2019, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance at the 4000 block of Marion Street, in the Municipality of Thames Centre.

Upon arrival, police were confronted by the suspect who was wielding a weapon. The officer deployed a conductive energy weapon and was able to gain control of the suspect.

As a result of the police investigation, Joshua VANDERGULIK, 29-year-old of Thames Centre, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC):

Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
Fail to comply with conditions of undertaking
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in London, Ontario.
