(CENTRAL HURON, ON) - A 28-year-old from Huron East has been charged with having a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Above 80 following a traffic stop this past weekend in Clinton.
At approximately 1:49 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were patrolling through the parking lot of the Community Centre located on Bill Fleming Drive when they observed a pickup truck pull away from its parking space toward the entrance to the Community Centre. The investigating officer noted there were several beer cans left behind at the parking space from where the vehicle departed from. As such the officer stopped the pickup truck to check on the sobriety of the driver.
Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming some alcohol. As a result the driver was given a demand to provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The driver complied with the demand and registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was taken into custody.
He was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his tests were over the legal limit.
David PETHICK, 28 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Impaired Operation - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for September 9, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
