Death Investigation Update

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) - On August 10, 2019, at 4:15 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Bruce County Paramedic Services were called to a residence at French Bay Road, Saugeen First Nation for a 24-year-old female with vital signs absent.
Early investigation has determined that the female had experienced an apparent opioid overdose and was administered Naloxone prior to the arrival of emergency responders. She was subsequently transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
On August 15, 2019 at 7:20 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged 33 year old, Adam THOMPSON of Saugeen First Nation with the following offences,
· Traffick in Schedule I substance - Opioid (other than heroin), section 5(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
· Traffick in Schedule I substance - Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth), section 5(1) CDSA
· Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) Criminal Code of Canada
Members of the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Gaynor of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continue to thoroughly investigate this isolated incident, and no risks to public safety have been identified.
