Failing To Stop For School Bus Results In Charge For 32 Year Old

(LISTOWEL, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), North Perth detachment, responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle failing to stop for a school bus in Listowel.
Through the police investigation a vehicle was identified. The owner was located and the driver was charged.
The driver, Rahul MODY, 32-years-old of North Perth was charged with failing to stop for a school bus. The driver was issued a Provincial Offence Notice (PON).
Perth County OPP want to ensure all motorists are aware that drivers must stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing and the school bus is stopped. Failure to stop for a school bus can result in a fine of up to $2,000 for a first offence, six demerit points and possible jail time for up to six months.
"Drivers need to anticipate delays due to school buses being on the road and pay attention to the flashing red lights and other safety equipment used on buses. Our children's safety depends on it." Inspector Rob Scott, Perth County OPP Detachment Commander.
