Fatal Train Vs Pickup Truck Collision

(MACHAR, ON) - On October 14, 2019, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), South River Machar Fire Department and Sundrige-Strong Volunteer Fire Department responded to a collision involving a train and a pickup truck on Machar-Strong Boundary Road in Machar Township, Ontario.

Two people from the truck have been confirmed deceased as a result of the collision. Identifying information is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours while OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) conduct an analysis of the scene. Canadian National (CN) Police Service is assisting with the investigation.

A detour is available. There are no residences affected by the road closure.
