Another Overdose Death - Four Charged

(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) - On November 8, 2019, members of the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Detective Inspector Serge ACAY, charged four people as a result of a suspected drug overdose that claimed a life in Odessa, Ontario.

On October 31, 2019, police were called to a residence on Main Street in Odessa where Krista-Lin CORCORAN, 30 years old, was found unresponsive. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A search warrant was executed on November 8, 2019 at a residence on Westdale Avenue in the City of Kingston. Three people were arrested and an arrest warrant has been issued for a fourth person who remains at large.

Chelsea HILLIARD-BIENIAS, 25 years old, of Kingston has been charged with:
possession of a Schedule 1 substance (Fentanyl); and
possession of a Schedule 1 substance (Fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking, both contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).



Benjamin Perry BIENIAS, 46 years old, of Kingston has been charged with:
failing to comply with a probation order contrary to the Criminal Code - three counts; and
possession of Schedule 1 substances (Fentanyl and Methamphetamine); and
possession of Schedule 1 substances for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl and Methamphetamine) all contrary to the CDSA- two counts

Lisa Marie HARTWICK, 47 years old, of Kingston has been charged with:
possession of a Schedule 1 substance (Fentanyl and Methamphetamine) - two counts; and
possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, both contrary to the CDSA.

HILLIARD-BIENIAS and HARTWICK, were released from police custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on December 19, 2019.

BIENIAS was held in custody for a bail hearing on November 9, 2019.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the fourth person, Brody Brian WHAN, 32 years-old, of no fixed address for Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance (Fentanyl and Methamphetamine) contrary to the CDSA - two counts.

Trafficking in opioids is a very serious offence. Dealers are knowingly distributing products that cause harm and could kill. Police remind everyone there is no safe use of illegal drugs. Detective Inspector ACAY states "While we are all aware of the lethal dangers of Fentanyl and other drugs, the more that we can do as a community to combat the distribution of these dangerous substances, the better it is for us all".

The investigation continues with the assistance of the police services in both Belleville and Kingston.
