Fatal Collision Update

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in relation to the May 1, 2020 fatal motor vehicle collision that involved a pick-up truck and two motorcycles on Wellington Road 19 at the Sixth Line of Centre Wellington Township. The motorcycles were travelling eastbound followed by the pick-up truck when the collision occurred.
John BOTT, 65-years-old of Nichol Township died as a result of the collision and a second motorcycle operator received non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital.
Albert GILES, 57-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Careless Driving - Cause Death and Careless Driving - Cause Bodily Harm contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Provincial Offences court - Guelph on September 2, 2020 to answer to the charges.
