(BLUEWATER, ON) - A 22-year-old from Cambridge was arrested for Impaired Driving and Dangerous Driving this past weekend after police caught him doing well over the speed limit.
On Saturday, August 1, 2020, at approximately 6:56 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer from the West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) was patrolling southbound on Bluewater Highway when he observed a vehicle racing toward him. A RADAR device was utilized and it confirmed the driver was speeding at a speed double the posted 80 km/h zone speed limit.
Upon speaking with the driver police noted the driver had consumed some alcohol so a roadside screening test was completed. The results of the test revealed the driver had failed thus police arrested him and transported him to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.
Nicholas MISENER, 22 years of age, from Cambridge has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, Dangerous Driving & Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 14, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
