Impaired Driver Arrested Following Collision With Tree

(CHATSWORTH, ON) - On August 7, 2020 at 9:30 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision involving a silver car that had left the roadway and struck a tree on the Holland-Sydenham Townline, west of Concession 3A in the Township of Chatsworth, ON.
Officers attended and located the driver, who was showing signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired driving by drug and was transported to the Saugeen Shores Police Service, where a Drug Recognition Expert completed an evaluation with this driver.
As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Francis REINHART, 28 years-of-age from Arran-Elderslie, ON with the following offences:
Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
Fail to remain at the scene of an accident, section 200(1)(a) Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Novice driver - presence of a drug, section 44.2(4) HTA
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 15, 2020.
