(SOUTH HURON, ON) - A Woodstock resident remains in custody in connection with a traffic stop that occurred early this morning in Crediton.

Early this morning Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were patrolling initially in Exeter when they observed a motor vehicle parked on the Main Street with unauthorized licence plates on the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter the suspect vehicle was located in Crediton on King Street. Police spoke with the driver and he was placed under arrest for Using Unauthorized Licence Plates and for Driving While under Suspension. A search incident to arrest was conducted and the accused was found to be in possession of a small quantity of suspected Fentanyl.

Subsequent checks revealed the accused was failing to comply with a condition of a court release order, as well, the attached licence plates were found to be stolen from London.

Philip WALSH, 39 years of age from Woodstock has been charged with the following offences:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Fentanyl
Fail to Comply with Release Order
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
Drive While Under Suspension.


The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
