(SOUTH HURON, ON) - A truck driver from Flesherton is facing a number of charges along with a court date following a traffic stop conducted by a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last weekend.
On Saturday, November 14, 2020 at approximately 10:19 a.m. Huron OPP received a call about a transport truck and trailer travelling with a hand-made licence plate made out of paper and a magic marker.
Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and the transport was stopped on Thames Road West near Exeter. Upon stopping the vehicle the investigating officer inspected the licence plate attached to the trailer and just as described it was found to be a homemade paper licence plate. Further inspection and investigation revealed the commercial driver did not have a valid commercial motor vehicle certificate (CVOR), had failed to maintain his daily log book and had failed to complete a daily inspection report.
The driver, a 48-year-old from Grey Highlands has been charged with Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle - No valid CVOR, Fail to Maintain Daily Log, Fail to Accurately Complete Daily Inspection Report, Fail to Carry Inspection Schedule, Use Altered Plate, and Fail to Surrender CVOR Certificate. A court date has been set for January 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
