Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 149 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three person was arrested and one on an outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24015663
At 5:41 a.m., police responded to the intersection of King Street West and Lacroix Street in Chatham for a traffic complaint. Reports indicated a vehicle was stopped at the intersection and the driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel.
Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. The man was transported to police headquarters for tests.
The 24-year-old Kent Bridge man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of April 29, 2024.
Man Arrested Assault CK24015751
On March 31, 2024, police began a family violence investigation in Chatham. The investigation revealed the violence had occurred over several years and affected several individuals.
When the man could not be located as he was out of the country, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On April 9, 2024, the man was arrested at Pearson International Airport upon his return.
The 30-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, four counts of assault with a weapon, five counts of assault causing bodily harm, and eleven counts of assault.
Youth Arrested for Weapon Offence CK24015762
At 6:38 p.m., police responded to Raleigh Street in Chatham for a weapons investigation.
The investigation revealed a group of youths were walking on Raleigh Street when one youth punched a “For Sale” sign. A bystander confronted the youths on the behaviour and in response the youth brandished a “flick” knife in a threatening manner.
The 16-year-old Chatham male youth was located and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters where he was released to a parent with conditions and a future court date of May 13, 2024. The youth is currently facing the following charges: assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
