(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person after a report of a theft of a bike.

On May 5, 2024, shortly before 8:30 a.m., Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a bike from a residence on Mageau Street, West Nipissing.

An unknown person had taken the bike and fled into a wooded area, but was shortly located and arrested by police.

A search of the person located, Canadian currency and drugs suspected to be Cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids and other drugs.

As a result of the investigation, Shawn MOON, 45-years-old, from West Nipissing, was charged with:

Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – four counts
Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
Theft under $5000
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on May 15, 2024.
