(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired at a RIDE program.

On May 7, 2024 shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62 near Rossmore when a vehicle entered the program. Officers spoke with the driver and administered an approved screening device. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. Jacob BLAIND, age 29 from Prince Edward County, was charged with the following offences:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
The driver was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 7, 2024. They also had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven.
