(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) � The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On August 5, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on Park Avenue East near Stirling Lane, Municipality of Chatham-Kent after observing a vehicle driven by a known suspended driver.



The investigating officer confirmed the identity of the driver, the individual�s driver licence status and took the driver into custody without incident. During this interaction, the investigating officer detected signs of alcohol consumption and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering an �Alert.�

As a result of the investigation, Brodie MACWILLIAMS, a 25-year-old from Chatham was charged with:



Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
Driving while under suspension
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
A further three-day Administrative Driver�s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on September 16, 2024.
