(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) � The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with multiple offences.
On August 10, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., an officer was patrolling on Highway 401 westbound near Belleville, when they observed a vehicle approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. As part of the investigation, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer was utilized.
As a result, Eric GIARD, age 32, of Sainte-Croix, Quebec was charged with:
Operation while impaired � alcohol and drugs
Failure or refusal to comply with demand
Dangerous operation
Possession of a schedule I substance � cocaine
Drive motor vehicle � perform stunt � excessive speed
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Drive motor vehicle � no licence
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
