(OTTAWA, ON) � Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges against a Cornwall resident after receiving a traffic complaint about their driving.



Shortly before 5:30 p.m on September 12, Ottawa OPP received multiple complaints about a possible impaired driver travelling westbound along Highway 417 near Carling Avenue. The passenger was also observed �hanging out� of the window and holding what appeared to be a bottle of alcohol. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired driving. An open bottle of alcohol, as well as cups filled with alcohol were also located in the vehicle.

Trey O�Rourke, 21 years of age, has been charged with the following Criminal Code, Liquor License Act and Highway Traffic Act offences:

Operation While Impaired � Alcohol and Drugs
Operation While Impaired � Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
Young Driver � B.A.C Above Zero
The passenger was also charged under the Liquor License Act and for not wearing their seatbelt.

O�Rourke received a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. O�Rourke is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on October 10, 2024.
