(CHARLTON-DACK, ON) � Additional charges have been laid and the accused identified following a shooting incident in Charlton.
On September 23, 2024, shortly before 5:00 a.m., members from the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shooting incident at a residence on Agnes Street in Charlton.
As a result of the investigation, three people were charged contrary to the Criminal Code.
Amanda BATISSE, 44 years of age of Otto Township, has been charged with:
Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon, section 239(1)(a)
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo, section 95(1)
Forcible confinement, section 279(2)
Fail to comply with probation order, section 733.1(1)
Ronald BLUEBIRD, 49 years of age of Otto Township, has been charged with:
Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon, section 239(1)(a)
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, section 117.01(1) � two counts
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo, section 95(1)
Forcible confinement, section 279(2)
Failure to comply with release order � other than to attend court, section 145(5)(a)
Discharged a restricted firearm or a prohibited firearm with intent, section 244(1)(2)
Deanna RAMTHUN, 51 years of age of Charlton, has been charged with:
Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon, section 239(1)(a)
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo, section 95(1)
Forcible confinement, section 279(2)
The accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on October 1, 2024.
The investigation is being conducted by the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Forensic Identification Services.
