(PEMBROKE, ON) � A Pembroke resident has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) after a traffic stop in Pembroke during the noon hour on September 29, 2024. Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Pembroke Street East in Pembroke after a stolen vehicle alert was received from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) integrated with the police cruiser�s In-Car Camera (ICC). The vehicle had been reported stolen in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on September 19, 2024.

As a result of this investigation 60-year-old Thomas Alexander PATRICK is charged with the following CC offence:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 5, 2024.

The ALPR system can read thousands of licence plates per minute allowing officers to process more information on licence plates. It also has the capability of capturing vehicles of interest such as Amber Alerts, drivers with a suspended licence and stolen vehicles.
