(ESPANOLA, ON) � Two individuals have been charged following a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Baldwin Township that led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine tablets and an imitation firearm.

On October 28, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a person known to them as being a suspended driver get into the driver�s seat of a vehicle. The driver then proceeded westbound on Highway 17 near McKerrow. A traffic stop was initiated, and police observed two individuals inside the vehicle. Further investigation led to officers locating over 900 tablets of suspected methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $4,500, and an imitation firearm inside the vehicle.

As a result, the driver, Brandon FOURNIER, 25-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:



Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking � methamphetamine
Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose
Driving while under suspension � two counts
The passenger, Johnathon TRUDEAU, 42-years-old from Spanish, was charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking � methamphetamine
Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose
Failure to comply with probation order � two counts
Failure to comply with release order
Both accused individuals appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on October 28, 2024 and were remanded into custody.
