LONDON, ON (January 20, 2025) � The London Police Service is announcing the launch of Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) this month.
Today, the LPS will begin a three-phased rollout of BWCs to members of the Uniformed Division, Canine Unit and Emergency Response Unit of the LPS.
Phase one (1) of the rollout will begin on, January 20, 2025, and subsequent phased deployments will occur over the coming year.
The introduction of the BWCs within LPS is aimed to:
Improve public trust through transparency and accountability.
Collect evidence crucial to investigations, court proceedings and oversight proceedings.
Ensure fair and timely resolution to complaints.
Improve the effectiveness of training, development and performance of police personnel.
