(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) � The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a number of individuals over the weekend.



On March 7, 2025, OPP received information that a child had attended a local hospital as a result of non-life threatening injuries which had been sustained on separate occasions in the days leading up to the report. The victim had been transferred to a Toronto hospital for further care. The injuries were deemed suspicious and police began an investigation with assistance from the Northumberland Crime Unit.



As a result, a 30-year-old male, from the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand, has been charged with:



� Assault causing bodily harm � two counts.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. They shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim.

On March 8, 2025, at around 10:20 a.m., police responded to a complaint regarding a pickup truck which failed to move over for an emergency vehicle while it was stationary at an incident on Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope. Officers stopped the vehicle and following speaking to the driver, entered into an impaired operation investigation. The officer made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand of which the driver complied, resulting in a �FAIL�. The individual was transported to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Jeffrey KELL (age 41), from Brechin, has been charged with:

� Operation while impaired � alcohol and drugs

� Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

� Novice driver fail to surrender licence

� Novice dricer � B.A.C. above zero

� Class G1 licence holder � drive on prohibited highway

� Fail to move into another lane for emergency vehicle or two truck � if safe to do so.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

On March 9, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope. A passenger vehicle was observed travelling at 157 Km/h prior to being stopped by police. An ASD demand was made and the driver complied. With the result, the accused was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Taylor BATTAMS (age 30), from Oshawa, has been charged with:

� Operation while impaired � alcohol and drugs

� Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

� Drive motor vehicle � perform stunt � excessive speed.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

On March 10, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers received a traffic complaint regarding a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Cramahe. Officers located a vehicle matching the description and following initial checks, it was conformed to be stolen from the Greater Toronto Area. The vehicle was stopped and occupants placed under arrest.

Antoine AUDY (age 20), from Quebec, has been charged with:

� Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

� Follow too closely

� Careless driving

� Possess unmarked cigarettes

� Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

Michael GARNEAU (age 20), from Quebec, has been charged with:

� Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

� Possession break in instruments.

Maya PERRON (age 20), from Quebec, has been charged with:

� Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

� Possession break in instruments.

The vehicle was recovered by police and the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
