(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) � The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Centre Wellington Township resident criminally, stemming from a RIDE program.
On March 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive �Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere� (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road within Fergus, when they initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle to determine sobriety.
As a result of the investigation, Christopher HASSELL, a 49-year-old of Centre Wellington Township is charged under the Criminal Code with:
Unmarked cigarettes
Novice driver � B.A.C. above zero
Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
A 90-day Administrative Driver�s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice � Guelph on April 1, 2025.
