Northumberland Weekend Update

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) � The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded a variation of incidents over the weekend.
On April 3, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Hamilton.
Police arrived on the scene where a passenger vehicle was in the ditch and there were no injuries to persons involved. Officers spoke to the driver of the passenger vehicle and entered into an impaired operation investigation. The motorist was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests undertaken by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE).
Amy HALSTED (age 50) from Nova Scotia, has been charged with:
� Operation while impaired � alcohol and drugs.
In addition to a future court date for the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
On April 4, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a member of the public reported a person causing damage to a residence and threatening people on Canrobert Street in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
OPP arrived and officers arrested the individual believed to be involved. While being taken into custody, the accused resisted arrest.
Robin GRANT-RUSSELL (age 32), from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:
� Unlawfully in dwelling house
� Assault
� Uttering threats � cause death or bodily harm
� Mischief � destroys or damages property
� Assault with intent to resist arrest
� Mischief � interferes with lawful use of property.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
On April 4, 2025, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Northumberland OPP received multiple complaints regarding a pick-up truck travelling eastbound on Highway 401. Callers advised the vehicle was unable to maintain it�s lane and was travelling at a high rate of speed.
Police stopped the vehicle in the on Highway 401 in Trenton and following speaking to the driver, officers entered into an impaired operation investigation. As a result, the motorist was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.
Martin SIMONEAU (age 48), from Kingston, has been charged with:
� Operation while impaired � alcohol and drugs
� Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
� Dangerous operation
� Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
In addition to a future court date for the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
On April 6, 2025, at around 10:50 a.m., police responded to a dispute at a residence in the Municipality of Brighton where one person sustained minor injuries. Officers arrived and took one person into custody in relation to the incident.
As a result, a 31-year-old male from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:
� Assault with a weapon
� Assault
� Mischief � destroys and damages property
� Uttering threats � cause death or bodily harm.
The individual shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
