Northumberland Weekend Update

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) � The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a number of individuals in unrelated incidents over the weekend.
On February 26, 2025, officers received a report of a theft which had occurred at a commercial premises on Main Street in the Municipality of Brighton. The person sought in connection to the incident had left before the arrival of police. An investigation into the theft of a phone and purse began with the result of a warrant issued for the arrest of the accused.
On April 10, 2025, the individual was arrested by a neighboring police service and custody was transferred to Northumberland OPP.
Jonathon ATKINSON (age 33), from the Township of Cramahe, has been charged with:
� Theft under $5,000
� Use of a credit card obtained by crime
� Fail to comply with probation order.
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
On April 14, 2025, at around 5:00 p.m., police responded to a family dispute at a residence on Deerfield Drive in the Municipality of Brighton. Officers arrived and took one individual into custody. There were no injuries reported.
A 38-year-old male, from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:
� Uttering threats � cause death or bodily harm.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. They shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim.
On April 12, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., OPP received a report relating to an assault which had occurred at an address in the Township of Cramahe. Officers arrived and began an investigation into the incident along with historical intimate partner violence. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were not required.
As a result, a 41-year-old male, from the Township of Cramahe, has been charged with:
� Assault cause bodily harm � choke, suffocate or strangle � two counts
� Assault � spousal � two counts
� Forcible confinement.
The individual is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. They shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim.
