(KAPUSKASING, ON) � A Kapuskasing resident is facing impaired driving and multiple off-road vehicle-related charges after being stopped while riding an ATV without a helmet.
On Saturday, April 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Riverside Drive in Kapuskasing for a helmet violation. During the stop, officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.
As a result, Joseph CARON 25 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, has been charged with:
� Operation while impaired � alcohol
� Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
� Driver fail to wear proper helmet
� Driver fail to surrender licence
� Drive off-road vehicle � no permit
� Drive off-road vehicle � no insurance
� Drive off-road vehicle � no number plate
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 2, 2025, in Kapuskasing. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver�s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
