On May 16, 2025, at approximately 4:00 am, the OPP received a phone call from a driver reporting they were involved in a single vehicle collision on Hwy 11 near Flanders Road. The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The responding officers observed signs of impairment, and an OPP Drug Recognition Expert was brought in to conduct an evaluation. The evaluation determined that the driver was not able to operate the vehicle safely due to drug consumption and they were arrested for impaired driving.
Shanna Kay GOSSELIN, 29-years-old from Atikokan is charged criminally with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and impaired operation alcohol and drugs. The accused�s driver licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released by police and has first appearance on June 26, 2025, in the Atikokan Ontario Court of Justice.
