(GUELPH, ON) Police are seeking a wanted individual in connection with the kidnapping and death of a male in the City of Guelph, where three others have already been arrested.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving two vehicles on the Hanlon Parkway Southbound, north of Stone Road. A 40-year-old male from Cambridge with life-threatening injuries was located on scene upon police arrival. The individual was transported to hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Upon further investigation, police learned that earlier in the day, the victim had been abducted from a residence on Fife Road by five suspects who fled in two vehicles. Investigators believe, while traveling southbound on the Hanlon Parkway, the victim was outside the first vehicle, a Toyota Venza SUV, when he was struck by the second vehicle, a Dodge RAM pickup truck, that was following closely behind.

The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) has obtained an arrest warrant for Ian BROWN, age 51 of Guelph (photos attached). He was last seen in the downtown Guelph area. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact authorities immediately. Do not approach if spotted.

As a result of the investigation, three individuals were arrested and charged with Criminal Code offences. Their names, dates of arrest, locations, charges and next scheduled court dates are available in the attached addendum. As one of the individuals is a youth, the OPP is not in a position to release their name, in compliance with requirements under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

While this remains an isolated incident, the OPP reminds all members of the public to remain vigilant and contact police if they observe anything suspicious.

The investigation by the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit remains ongoing, under the direction of the OPP CIB, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Support was also provided by the Guelph Police Service.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicles is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.
