(TOMIKO, ON) A North Bay driver is facing 17 criminal charges after failing to stop for Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers during a traffic stop attempt.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the North Bay OPP attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 17, west of North Bay, in support of an ongoing investigation. The driver failed to stop and struck a stationary OPP cruiser as officers attempted to block the highway.

The vehicle was later reported driving dangerously through a hospital parking lot and again on Highway 11 north of North Bay. Officers located the vehicle on Tomiko Lake Road in Merrick Township, where it had sustained damage after leaving the roadway. Upon police approach, the driver attempted to flee and was subsequently taken into custody.
