(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) A traffic stop for speeding has led to multiple charges after a driver attempted to switch seats with a passenger.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2025, at approximately 8;30 a.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI). A vehicle was observed travelling at 119 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone, and a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver, Michel DESORMEAUX, 37-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:

Driving while under suspension two counts
Failure to comply with release order
Speeding 1 49 km/hr over posted limit
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on November 4, 2025.
