(ESPANOLA, ON) � One person is facing charges after a traffic stop for stunt driving.
On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 17 in the Baldwin Township. A vehicle was observed travelling 104 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone, and a traffic stop to investigate further was initiated. The driver provided a breath sample using an approved screening device (ASD), which registered a FAIL. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, Garry ST-JEAN, 54-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
Drive motor vehicle � perform stunt
Operation while impaired
Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Breach of probation order
Speeding 1-49 km/hr over posted limit
Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available
Operate motor vehicle without insurance
Drive motor vehicle � no plates
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on November 17, 2025
