(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) A barricaded person incident in Larder Lake Township has resolved peacefully.
On Sunday, January 4, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence in Larder Lake Township to execute a warrant. Upon arrival, the individual uttered threats towards police which lead the surrounding roads to be closed to ensure public safety.
With the assistance of the Kirkland Lake OPP uniform and crime members, OPPs Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators and the OPPs Critical Incident Command (CIC), the individual was arrested and taken into police custody.
As a result, James STEVENS, a 79-year-old of Larder Lake Township was arrested and charged with Uttering threats cause death or bodily harm.
The accused remains in custody and is to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on January 6, 2026.
