(DUFFERIN COUNTY) � The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has executed a search warrant at a residence in the Township of Amaranth, resulting in the arrest of an individual believed to be responsible for five separate break and enter investigations, along with related fraud investigations.

From December 2025 into early January 2026, Dufferin OPP investigated these break and enter and fraud incidents in and around the Town of Shelburne. Members of the Dufferin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), in collaboration with uniform officers, initially identified and arrested the individual in connection with two of the break and enter incidents. Further investigation linked the same individual to the remaining incidents.

On January 10, 2026, members of the Dufferin OPP CSCU executed the warrant at the Township of Amaranth residence and arrested the individual believed to be responsible for all five incidents.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew BADRINARAYAN, a 40-year-old male from Amaranth, has been charged with the following offences:

1. Break and enter a place to commit an indictable offence (five counts)

2. Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (in Canada) (two counts)

3. Possession of break-in instruments

4. Theft of credit card

5. Use of credit card (two counts)

6. Theft under $5,000 (two counts)

The following items were seized:

1. Stolen cash register from a pharmacy break and enter

2. Stolen lottery tickets

3. Clothing worn during the offence(s)

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.
