(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) � An individual has been charged following an investigation into a mischief incident in Simcoe.
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at approximately 8:19 p.m., a member of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol when they observed an individual enter a business on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe. While inside the establishment, the individual was seen interfering with an appliance.
The individual was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Further investigation determined that a quantity of Canadian currency had been stolen during the incident.
As a result, a 34-year-old Richard WIGHT of no fixed address has been charged with the following alleged offences:
Mischief � obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property,
Theft under $5,000,
Fail to comply with Probation Order (two counts).
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
