(MOOSONEE, ON) � The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver for impaired driving after a proactive traffic stop.
On January 31, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on First Street observed to not have licence plates or a rear light.
Officers spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Moosonee OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Thomas PAULMARTIN, 28 years of age, of Attawapiskat, has been charged with:
� Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
� Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
� Novice driver � B.A.C. above zero
� Drive motor vehicle, no permit
� Drive motor vehicle, no plates
� Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
� Drive without proper rear lights
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 3, 2026 in Moosonee. Additionally, the driver was issued a 90‑day Administrative Driver�s Licence Suspension (ADLS).
