(PEMBROKE, ON) � A City of Pembroke resident is facing a Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charge after the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen motor vehicle.
On February 5, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m. members of the UOV OPP responded to a report of a male passed out in the driver�s seat of a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot on Alexander Street in Pembroke. The male was taken into custody and as part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, and further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) at the detachment.
As a result of the investigation 39-year-old Meryl MCGIVERN has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:
� Operation while impaired � alcohol and drugs
The accused had their driver�s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was returned to its owner. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 3, 2026.
